DSP & Digital
Instruments
My more technical work sits at the intersection of engineering and musical intuition. I like to find the limits of traditional physical modelling, then break them in ways I find sonically exciting.
Here are some selected projects that I think show my approach to DSP & Digital Musical Instrument Design.

Note on Recent Work
Much of my recent professional DSP and instrument development work is covered by non-disclosure agreements. As a result, I’m unable to share detailed implementations, code, or audio examples from this period publicly. However, some topics that I have been working on recently have included: Virtual Analog Circuit modelling of the CS-80 Ring Modulator, with implementation now on-board the YAMAHA Montage M Series From pen-on-paper circuit analysis to VST programming in C++, this

"CD-SR1" Spring Reverb
Modal Resonator powered VST Plugin This VST plugin designed, programmed and developed for my masters degree final thesis uses a novel method of modal resonance to successfully model true spring reverberation as well as that of physically impossible springs. A novel modal resonator model of spring reverb was developed and implemented as a realtime functioning plugin in C++. Through the use of physically informed damping profiles, multi-dimensional interpolated lookup tables an

"Montauk"
Interactive Sound Environment ー Unity, C# This interactive sound environment designed and built in Unity and using Wwise aimed to explore how trauma affects memory though sonic interaction. The 2004 film "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" follows the main character undergoing a medical procedure to delete specific traumatic memories. This is done through the vehicle of sequentially reliving them in a dream. This exploration of the reliving, examination and possible delet

"CD-M1" Gesturally Controlled Synthesiser
Prototype Synthesiser for Dance The CD-M1 was a gesturally controlled monophonic synthesiser prototype with built in texture control, filtering and note selection. It was designed to be performed as an instrument in simultaneity with dance, encouraging creative and unorthodox choreography as well as composition. Primary inspiration was taken from the Theremin, with an aim to remove the restrictions caused by a continuous frequency spectrum and extremely limited user movement.

"SoundGarden"
Interactive Sound Environment ー Unity, C# This interactive sound environment allows the player to explore a space where proximity, orientation, and movement create a sonic language that can be pieced together. The main goal of this project was to create an immersive and sonically engaging interactive environment with a clear and coherent aesthetic. The main themes were to do with isolation, and attempting to find (or create) coherence in scattered world. The user must collect
